Today's Review: Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause

Greetings and welcome to Ocean's Movie Shack, there was...a little incident with one of my reviews..it really make me sad, so I decide to postpone it; but I'm back, cheerful as ever and back in action, so let's go to this review:

Remember Santa Clause?

I think you all do: the story of comedian Tim Allen playing Scott Calvin, a cynical buisnessman who accidentally knocks down Santa and takes his coat, making him the new Santa; Standard, but enjoyable christmas flick and I think many people like it. Years later, a sequel was made; this time Scott needs to find a Mrs Clause in order to still being Santa Clause while the North Pole is dealing with a plastic Santa; my opinion is that is not as good as the original, but its a decent sequel and worth to watch... and years later, a third one came out...and it sucks...really bad

Why this movie deserves being on the Naughty list? Let's find out
.....
What is this movie about?
If your familiar with the holiday classic It's a Wonderful Life you'll probably know what is leading it up to: Scott juggling with the visit of his wife's parents visit (of course, not telling about Santa and all that secret stuff) the coming of his baby, his duty as Santa and keeping in line a mischevious Jack Frost, he ends up using the Escape Clause to go back in past, but this time Santa is Jack Frost and ruins Christmas,so Scott must set things right
.....
Meet the Characters
Well, in the 2 first Santa Clause movies has characters that are pretty likeable but these one doesn't have plots that I don't really care, it's just kind of filler

First of all, Scott Calvin (played by Tim Allen) doesn't have too much conflict except by dealing with his in-laws, is kinda still in character but this performance is just forgettable

Later is Scott's wife Carol played by Elizabeth Mitchell, she is pregnant in this movie but that doesn't affect in the plot

Later are characters of the movies that are in the movie just because like Scott's ex-wife Laura, her husband Neil and also Charlie, also the Council of Legendary Figures

Two characters also have some importance on the plot: Laura and Neil's daughter Lucy and also Spencer Breslin reprising Curtis but that's it.

Carol's parents played by Ann-Margaret and Alan Arkin are just stereotypical in-laws who are not convinced of Scott and are kinda gullible, well Peter Griffin speaks better for me

Peter: OMG, Who...the hell...cares

And finally is Jack Frost played by Martin Short, this is the character that I don't like the most: is horseshoe'd in the movie for the need of an antagonist, he is just a frosted dork who makes a lot of mischief and nobody notice it and suspect of him and nobody tries to stop him; is kinda like Logan for Zoey 101 and for a new character could be funny few times but it's not likeable

All I got to say is: Dreamworks...better make a more likeable Jack Frost in Rise of the Guardians

BTW, Bernard doesn't appear with these movie
.....
Let's Shack it Up
Well, first let's talk about the director: Michael Lembeck who directed movies who can pass the radar of anyone like The Clique, Tooth Fairy starring Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and that High School Musical spinoff starring the most unlikeable character of the movie, Sharpay for being more specific; hard to believe he was the same guy who directed the decent sequel

And the setting are kinda the same of SC2 so I have no complains with that and I'm going to say the setting is not problem, in fact, i liked when we're introduced to the Snow Globe Room, maybe it's kinda CGI-ish is pretty nicce decorated and looks really good

But the thing that bothers me the most is the script: the pacing was just bad, the first half of the movie is just Scott trying to masqueradethe North Pole as a pretty stereotypical Canadian setting and the It's a Wonderful Life-esque  plot just last like 10-15 minutes. Another point is that Jack Frost can manilipulate everyone to make mischief and get away because the rest of the characters are morons and the plot points doesn't hurt him for bad writing: For example, when Mother Nature, the mistress of nature, a powerful figure can change the seasons and melt the ice can't touch it because her powers can't affect other Legendary Figures, pretty much like the plot says so so Lucy can hug him and make him good like that was coming out of their assess even if that was kinda brought in the Snow Globe Room but there's no solid explanation.

Overall, the settings are nice but the rest is just tedious and bland
.....
Final Thoughts
Much like The Neverending Story 3 this movie is a sequel which was made by the only purpose of ruining a franchise; the plot is just a joke, the characters are not interesting and the pacing was just terrible, the idea of an alternate present would be fine if it wasn't too rushed and the execution is just a joke, so thank goodness they don't milk this classic anymore
So my advice is watch the first two, and if you like the original so much and you don't like this movie, you have two options:
Skip it or pretend it doesn't exist

I'm Ocean, wishing you Merry Christmas for the good of mankind

The Ally and AJ song for the movie was nice though

THE END

"Rest assure people, because for the after christmas review, I'm going to review a movie which no matter how is ornamented, it's just a charcoal of a movie so stay tuned"
For this episode I'm going to dig for the charcoal pit of a bad christmas family movie and let's see if I can found a diamond (which I hardly doubted it)

And for next review: Deck the Halls (falalalalalalala)
